The
Hannover effect
The
Hannover Messe, 2004 seemed to set new standards with its unique and
holistic showcase of the entire industrial supply chain
The
Hannover Messe exhibition held recently in Germany was one of the largest
engineering, automation and industrial systems and components annual
marketplace events in the world.
The Hannover Messe, held from April 19 to 24, 2004, attracted 1,80,000
visitors, nearly 50,000 of whom came from countries outside Germany,
to see the wares exhibited by the 5,040 participants across a huge display
area of 1,51,500 sq m. Apart from establishing contact with international
attendees, detailed dialogue with other exhibitors was also evident
during the six days of the fair.
The population density of visitors at the fair, standing at 1.2 persons
per sq m of rented space, was encouragingly high. Each of the eight
trade shows staged under Hannover Messe umbrella focused on one particular
link in the industrial chain.
The eight trade shows included Interkama+, Factory Automation, Energy
2004, Surface Technology Plus, Powder Coating Europe, Subcontracting
2004, Digital factory, Micro Technology and Research and Technology.
The leading fair was Interkama+, the fair for process automation. The
exhibitors at this show were able to attract new target groups and open
up valuable market opportunities as was seen from the response that
they were able to garner.
Interkama+, as the main fair, presented the whole spectrum of process
automation at a single venue. Its display ranged from innovative
stand-alone components to highly integrated systems. Factory Automation
showcased leading edge solutions for all sectors of the industry. Its
range comprised flexible manufacturing, standardised assembly procedures
and smart production management and integrated solutions that erase
the boundaries between mechanical engineering, electronics, software,
image processing, microsystems technology and mechatronics. Energy 2004
covered key energy issues such as wind power, solar energy and biomass.
Surface Technology along with Powder Coating Europe displayed a complete
array of products and systems for painting, electroplating, enamel coating
and other surface treatment techniques.
Subcontracting 2004, as the name suggests, was a trade fair for subcontracting
services and materials for mechanical engineering, the automotive industry
and plant engineering. Digital Factory showcased
