New cast hollow bar size range from Sandvik
The recent expansion of the size range for Sandvik Sanmac, has enabled Sandvik Materials Technology to compete effectively in the large diameter size area, where centrifugally cast hollow bar has traditionally held a strong market share. The new, larger diameter sizes, between 300mm outside diameter by 200mm inside diameter and 420mm by 300mm, are produced in stainless steel grades of Sandvik Sanmac 304L and 316L. With improved machinability benefits of the Sanmac family of stainless steels, key properties like corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are fairly maintained. and are available from stock in lengths of 3.5 to five metres. Sandvik has proved that the manufacturing process for producing centrifugally cast hollow bar dictates that lower cutting speeds and feed rates must be used—the two key factors in reducing productivity of machined components used in valves, pumps, flow meters, fittings and mechanical seals for the process industries. To demonstrate the difference in machinability between Sandvik Sanmac 316L hollow bar and 316L centrifugally cast material, the company undertook turning tests on 300mm by 200mm hollow bar material using grade GC 2025 inserts from sister company Sandvik Coromant. Sandvik Sanmac material achieved maximum cutting speeds of up to 290m/minute and a maximum feed rate of up to 0.7mm/revolution compared with centrifugally cast material of 180m/minute max and 0.4mm/revolution max. By reducing feed rates to 0.3mm/rev for both materials, it is possible to increase tool life to 15 minutes but significantly, Sandvik Sanmac materials achieve cutting speeds of 200m/minute compared to 125m/minute with its competitor- an faster cutting speed of 60 per cent. A key benefit of buying Sandvik's Sanmac products is that its support extends beyond the supply of materials. When required, all products can be supported with technical advice on the selection of material grades, recommended tool inserts and cutting data for a range of machining applications.

New generation machines from Hytek
HYTEK introduces the latest generation CNC Press Brakes and Shearing Machines from Europe. The Press Brakes are available from 35 to 1000 tonnes capacity. A wide variety of controller options are available from DELEM. A facility for control of more than four axes is also available. The machines use proportional hydraulics, ensuring that the exact force required by the job is exerted, thereby reducing power consumption. Also, for better quality and accuracy of the product, anti deflection is provided. The Shearing Machines are offered for cutting sheets up to 20mm mild Steel. However NC /CNC options are also available. Yet another new innovation from Hytex are Fasteners of various types for fabricators who work with Sheet Metal. These include a range of Clinch Nuts, Clinch Studs, Rivet Nuts, Blind Rivets, Nut Sorts etc. These fasteners are available in sizes from M2 to M 10 and can be used in mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel. The advantages of them is that they are easy and fast to install, they require no welding and are not only clean and aesthetic in appearance but are cost saving as well. All fasteners are available ex stock.
