The 31st National Conference on Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power, 2004 will highlight the various advances in the field

Jadavpur University will host the 31st National Conference on Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power 2004 between December 16-18 to disseminate scientific and technical information of interest to scientists and industrialists in the related fields. The conference further aims at exchanging ideas and views amongst researchers and scientists in various branches of theoretical and experimental fluid mechanics and fluid power.
The first Conference was organised in 1969 at Jadavpur University to promote the advancement of the science of fluid mechanics, fluid technology and allied fields in the country. The National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power provides a common platform for industrialists, technologists, scientists and others to keep themselves abreast of the advances in the field. Under the aegis of the Society, Jadavpur University will host the 31st National Conference to disseminate scientific and technical information of interest to scientists and industrialists in the related fields. The conference further aims at exchanging ideas and views amongst researchers and scientists in various branches of theoretical and experimental fluid mechanics and fluid power.
Jadavpur University is a State University under the State of West Bengal. Its parent institution was set up by the National Council of Education, Bengal in 1906. After India's Independence, the institution was converted to a University under the first Jadavpur University Act in 1955, and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) the same year. Jadavpur University has been also declared as the Centre of Excellence in Mobile Computing and Communication by the UGC. The university has also been accredited with the status of five star by the National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC). The Engineering Faculty has long been known for its excellence in training and in pathbreaking research. The Science Faculty goes from strength to strength in its teaching programmes and research in frontier areas of knowledge.
The three faculties (Science, Arts and Engineering) have close to 50 departments and schools of Advanced Studies. Out of these, there are 17 departments of engineering and technology.
A very specialised Department of Power Engineering, located at Salt Lake Campus at the Eastern side of Kolkata, was established in 1989 to produce specialised manpower for the power industries in India. The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1906 and located at Jadavpur and one of the largest Engineering Departments in Asia. Both the campuses are well connected by road from the nearest railway stations and airport.
