The
theme of the exposition was ‘Innovation with benefits for global competitiveness.’
Three expert groups were formed to examine and deliberate on the key
issues under the guidance of a chairman. The chairman for the automation
and control expert group was DG Sangawar, Vice President (Instrumentation
and Control Systems), Reliance Industries. The expert group on fluid
power was chaired by RS Natrajan, Chairman and MD, Bharat Earth Movers.
SA Bohra, Senior Executive Director, Nuclear Power Corporation of India
(NPCI) chaired the pumps and valves expert group.
Today,
the fluid power, automation and control, and pumps and valves sectors
play a vital role in modernisation and technology upgrading programme
for achieving better quality, efficiency and economy. These sectors
in India are vibrant industries, both with a strong manufacturing base
as well as with dynamic global contacts. They have shown an average
growth rate of over 10-15 per cent in the past few years. The estimated
size of the fluid power industry is between Rs 1,000-1,500 crore approximately,
while that of pumps and valves is estimated to be between Rs 1,500-2,000
crore.
The
objective of the show was to place on one hand, Indian expertise, services
and products on the world map and on the other, present some of the
state of the art technological innovations taking place elsewhere in
the world. The one-day international conference aimed at highlighting
some of the latest innovations taking place in the sector, both in India
and abroad, besides providing a ‘ringside view’ of some of the major
projects on the anvil in the related sectors in India. The conference
also brought together the industry and the government on a platform
to interact and help remove road blocks for the speedy development of
these sectors in the country.
Various
industry associations, such as the All India Instruments Manufacturer
and Dealers Association, Instrumentation Guide and Indian Pumps Manufacturers
Association extended their support to the Industrial Solutions India
2003.

and conference. RK Narang, Advisor, Reliance Industries, chaired the
